MBO Capital Management Ltd. (MBO Capital) is proud to celebrate a significant milestone with our portfolio company, Sourcing and Produce (S&P), on the successful opening of their new warehouse and fumigation chamber facility.
Over the past five years of its existence, S&P has recorded remarkable progress in providing smallholder farmers and their produce with access to international markets. S&P currently works with 1,280 farmers in five African countries (Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, and Burundi). Today, their commodity portfolio includes hibiscus, ginger, bird’s eye chili, various peppers, cardamom, cashews, turmeric, and multiple varieties of beans.
Previously, limited storage forced reliance on third-party fumigation for hibiscus, causing delays and contract fulfillment challenges. The new warehouse eliminates that bottleneck. With in-house fumigation capabilities, Sourcing and Produce can now operate more efficiently, reduce turnaround times, and meet contract obligations with greater consistency. This achievement marks a transformative step forward in S&P’s expansion journey.
Additionally, the facility opens a new revenue stream through third-party fumigation services. This milestone represents more than just additional infrastructure; it reflects a commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth.
At MBO Capital, we are committed to investing in companies that facilitate exports, thereby contributing to the development of sub-Saharan Africa. We celebrate this achievement and look forward to the future.
